Our Purpose, Beliefs, and Covenant

Purpose:   The purpose of this church is according to Ephesians 4:12-13:

"For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry,                 for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come into the unity           of the faith and the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man,    unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ."

We Believe:

there is One God, eternally existent in three persons -                             Father, Son, and Holy Spirit  (John 14:16-17; John 15:26; Eph. 2:18)

in the Deity of Jesus Christ - His virgin birth, His sinless life,                       His death to pay the penalty for our sins, and His bodily resurrection        (Matthew 1:18-25; John 1:14; I Tim. 3:16; Hebrews 2:14; Phil. 6:20)

that all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God  (Romans 3:23)

that salvation is by grace through faith in Christ Jesus  (Eph. 2:8-9)

that all who receive Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit,            therefore eternally children of God  (Acts 4:12; Romans 10:9-13)

in the bodily resurrection of the dead, both just and unjust;                    the eternal joy of the saved and the eternal punishment of the lost           (Romans 8:23; I Thessalonians 4:16-17; Luke 24:36-45)

in the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ (Jn 14:1-3; Acts 1:10-11)

Church Covenant

Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, and upon the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do, in the presence of God, angels, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ.

We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this church, in knowledge, holiness and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline and doctrine; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the Gospel to all nations.

We also engage to maintain family and personal devotions; to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements, and exemplary in our deportment.

We further engage to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember each other in prayer; to aid each other in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation, and mindful of the rules of our Savior to secure it without delay.
